ICE shot him, then gave him BenGay and vitamin D, says Rep. Kamlager-Dove

Carlitos Ricardo Parias has not gotten adequate treatment for the gunshot wound he suffered when a federal immigration officer shot him during an October 2025 arrest in Los Angeles, according to Rep. Kamlager-Dove.

She described his arm turning purple and says he was given treatments including BenGay and Vitamin D while detained at the Adelanto ICE Processing Center.

Parias’ case inspired the proposed Stop ICE’s Medical Neglect Act, which would establish a formal system for reporting and investigating allegations of inadequate medical care in ICE detention.
