Sen. Adam Schiff presses Blanche over the handling of Trump’s IRS lawsuit

California Sen. Adam Schiff pressed Todd Blanche over President Donald Trump’s attempt to collect $10 billion from the IRS and Treasury Department, two agencies within the government Trump himself controls.

Blanche, who previously served as Trump’s personal attorney, later signed the settlement on behalf of the federal government and acknowledged that Justice Department leaders chose not to continue defending the IRS against the lawsuit. Schiff argued that Blanche effectively represented both Trump and the agencies being sued, raising questions about conflicts of interest and whether the settlement improperly benefited the president.
